Work / Condition explainer
Limb preservation
The patient who arrives with a black toe is usually frightened and short of time. This film explains what is happening and why the next few days matter.
How this film was made
Watch it
The sound is off when it starts, because this film is built to be understood on a phone in a waiting room with the volume down.
The problem we were given
A patient who arrives with a blackened toe is frightened, and frightened patients do not read. The practice needed something that could be understood in under a minute, by somebody who had already been told the word amputation by somebody else.
What we wrote
We wrote it to answer three questions in order: what is actually happening inside the artery, what can be done about it, and why the timing of that decision changes the answer. It says plainly that this is about preserving the limb, which is the thing the patient came to ask and is often the last thing they are told.
How it was reviewed
The practice’s clinician approved the script before production, and the finished film was checked again against it. Nothing in the film describes a result the practice would not stand behind in clinic.
Why we show this one
It is the shortest film we have made and it carries the most weight. It is the proof that a film does not have to be long to do the job, and that the constraint worth respecting is the patient’s attention rather than the length of the script.
Where it runs. It runs on the practice’s site beside the limb preservation pages, and it is sent ahead of a first appointment.
The rest of the work
Ask what yours would look like.
Tell us the condition you explain most often, and we will script that one first. The script is yours whether or not you go ahead with the film.
Book a callBook a call
Tell us the condition and who the video is for. If the answer is a page rather than a video, we will say so.
